CENARE team brings a rich global experience spanning 5 continents - Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. The team has worked in nearly every country on the African Continent, giving CENARE a strong advantage in understanding cross-cultural nuances be it in national political, religious or socio-economic contexts.

With a combined experience of over 50 years conducting research in the fields of Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Agroforestry and Forestry, Natural Resources Management specifically in areas of: Access to clean and modern cooking solutions for households and institutions, especially e-cooking; Access to renewable energy, especially solar photovoltaics, for productive uses (PUE) in agriculture; Integrating carbon financing in clean cooking and renewable energy projects; Nature-based solutions for disaster and climate resilience; & Community natural resources management strategies.

CENARE’s expertise extends to developing and managing projects related to sustainable biomass energy technologies, Climate Resilience, Eco-system Based Adaptation (EbA), Climate Smart Agriculture, Reduced Emission from forest deforestation and degradation (REDD+), and Carbon Modelling.

CENARE’s team brings more than 40 years of combined experience providing strategic support to national governments, local and international organisations developing sustainable development and climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and policies. Specifically, members of the team were involved in the development of Kenya's Climate Change Response Strategy, Kenya's Climate Change Action Plan, Kenya's Renewable Energy Policy/Act, and the Kenya National Charcoal Policy showcasing their influence in shaping the country's approach to environmental sustainability and renewable energy development.

The CENARE team has a rich history providing gender advocacy and mainstreaming in climate change and sustainable development planning, working with local communities in the principle of “Leaving No One Behind” utilising modern participatory approaches and tools.

CENARE Team has a strong academic background, with the least qualification being a Bachelor’s Degree, with other team members being holders of Masters and PhD degrees in diverse areas including Energy Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Climate Change, Development Studies, and Business Management.
